How It All Started
Welcome to Cedar House Design Collective! We’re Julie Sanfilippo and Erika Twohig, two friends who turned our shared passion for transforming houses into homes into a thriving design collective.
In 2018, we combined our expertise in real estate, portfolio management, and design with a simple belief: great design should be beautiful, personal, and practical. What started as a collaboration between the two of us has grown into a multifaceted team, working together to craft custom interiors that reflect each client’s unique lifestyle.
Today, we love partnering with families to create one-of-a-kind spaces that are as functional as they are stunning—because home should feel like you.
Julie Sanfilippo
Co-Founder & Principal | Technical Design
Julie drives the technical design and operational side of Cedar House, ensuring every project is executed with precision and care. With training from Yale and RISD, she brings both creative discipline and technical expertise to each stage of the design process.
Focused on translating creative concepts into buildable realities, she develops detailed drawings, construction documentation, and material specifications while overseeing project execution. In addition, Julie manages firm operations, building the systems and processes that keep Cedar House running smoothly.
Passionate about new experiences — from traveling to fresh destinations, skiing with her family, or staying active through fitness — she channels that same curiosity and energy into her design approach. Known for her attention to detail and problem-solving skills, Julie ensures every project is flawlessly delivered.
Erika Twohig
Co-Founder & Principal | Creative Design
At Cedar House, Erika leads the creative vision and client experience, guiding homeowners through design concepts, selections, and the overall feel of their spaces. With a background in managing high-value brand portfolios and a passion for real estate investments, she brings a unique blend of strategic insight and creative direction to every project.
Her role extends beyond design into marketing and business development, ensuring that each client’s journey — from first introduction to final reveal — feels seamless, personalized, and inspiring.
Shaped by her upbringing in a large family, Erika’s passion has always been creating spaces where people feel welcome. She loves to host and entertain, and brings that same spirit into her design philosophy — crafting homes that are timeless, functional, and designed for connection.
When she’s not designing, she can be found at the beach, reading, or enjoying time with her family.
