At Cedar House Design Collective, we believe that to create beauty, you must surround yourself with it. That’s why we’re beyond excited to unveil the recent renovation of our Rhode Island interior design studio! This transformation has turned our workspace into a true oasis of creativity, designed to inspire and spark innovation in every project we undertake.
A Space Reimagined
Our newly renovated studio is more than just a physical space; it reflects our commitment to excellence in design and creativity. Julie and I purchased this commercial space in 2020 and initially focused on preparing our two rental units for lease and roof repair. Once those projects were complete, we took the time to recoup and meticulously plan our studio renovation, which unfolded in two phases, with the second phase completed earlier this year.
Each element was curated to create an environment that stimulates the senses and encourages a free flow of ideas. Here, our best ideas come to life, nurtured by surroundings as beautiful as the designs we create for out clients. This renovation marks a continuing evolution for us. While the major work has been completed, we will add finishing touches over the next year. These include new furnishings, a custom workspace tailored for our project coordinator, and continued personalization for Julie and my offices.
Our renovation is deeply influenced by Rhode Island’s charming and timeless aesthetic. We’ve infused our studio with elements that reflect our unique style, characterized by a blend of coastal elegance and historical richness. Integrating natural materials, soft color palettes, and nautical touches creates a serene and refreshing atmosphere.

Open-Concept Design with Areas of Privacy
Our open-concept layout fosters collaboration and communication, allowing ideas to flow freely. The design mirrors the airy and inviting feel of Rhode Island’s coastal homes, providing a spacious environment where creativity can thrive. To balance this openness, we’ve also incorporated dedicated areas for privacy, ensuring team members have spaces for focused work, personal calls, and quiet reflection. This thoughtful blend of open and private spaces enhances productivity and well-being, creating a versatile studio environment that meets all our team’s needs.

In keeping with our commitment to sustainability, we’ve incorporated numerous green elements into our renovation. From energy-efficient lighting and climate control systems to reducing plastic use with Zipwater and adding indoor plants that purify the air, every aspect of our studio reflects our dedication to environmental responsibility. This approach aligns with the eco-friendly ethos often found in our Rhode Island-inspired design. By integrating these sustainable practices, we ensure our space inspires creativity and contributes positively to the environment, reinforcing our pledge to a greener future.
Innovative Meeting Areas
Our new multi-functional meeting areas are designed to be both functional and inspirational. With state-of-the-art technology and comfortable seating, these spaces are perfect for brainstorming sessions, client meetings, and collaborative work. Equipped with Frame TVs that look like art but function as screens for meetings, whiteboards, automated solar shades for light control, and ample room for people and materials, these areas cater to all our meeting needs.
In addition to the advanced technology, the aesthetic design of these spaces draws inspiration from our signature Rhode Island design style. Large windows ensure these rooms are bathed in natural light, creating a bright and energizing environment. Natural materials like wood and stone, paired with soft, calming color palettes, add to the inviting atmosphere. These design elements make our meeting areas not just places to work but places to create and innovate.

This design choice creates a vibrant and energizing atmosphere and brings out the actual colors and textures in our design work, reminiscent of the bright and breezy interiors we create for our clients. By maximizing daylight, we’ve crafted a space that feels open and airy, much like the inviting coastal homes of Rhode Island.
The thoughtful integration of natural light boosts our creativity and significantly benefits our well-being. Exposure to natural light improves mood, enhances productivity, and supports better sleep patterns by regulating our circadian rhythms. It reduces eye strain and headaches, promoting overall health and comfort. Materials Library
To further boost productivity, we have added a comprehensive materials library. This well-organized collection of samples, swatches, and design resources allows our team to quickly and efficiently access the materials they need for our projects. By having everything in one centralized location, we streamline our workflow and enhance our ability to experiment with different textures, colors, and finishes. Ultimately, these save us time and spark creativity, enabling us to deliver even more innovative and high-quality designs for our clients.
